Because of a small navigation mistake Lord Buckethead lands on earth instead of "in a galaxy far, far away". But he is still looking for the princess and the secret transmissions.
This 1984 film was the first feature length spoof of Star Wars and total B-Movie Comedy Schlock. Lord Buckethead, however, would become a UK sensation that spawned a real-life satirical political candidate.
A candidate under the "Lord Buckethead" name has stood in three United Kingdom general elections against three different leaders and Prime Ministers. Representing the Gremloids, a frivolous political party, he ran against Margaret Thatcher for parliament in Finchley in 1987, against John Major in Huntingdon in 1992, and against Theresa May in Maidenhead in 2017 where he polled 0.4% of the vote.
The movie disappeared on the US market, but became a cult sensation in the UK. One of the earliest appearances of Paula Poundstone and Chris Elliott (Groundhog Day), this movie is a must for Star Wars spoof fans everywhere!
