2025 was a tough year for the Doctor Who community, as we lost several talented actors and behind-the-scenes figures who helped shape the classic era of the show. We remember those who appeared in multiple episodes or made especially significant contributions.
Jean Marsh
Jean Marsh was one of the standout performers of the First Doctor era. She is best remembered as Sara Kingdom, the tough Space Security Service agent in the epic The Daleks’ Master Plan (1965-66). Her strong presence left a lasting mark on the classic series.
Nabil Shaban
Nabil Shaban delivered one of the most memorable villain performances as Sil, the scheming, amphibious trader in Vengeance on Varos (1985) and Mindwarp (1986) during Colin Baker’s Sixth Doctor era. His distinctive voice and mannerisms made Sil a fan favorite.
Christopher Benjamin
A familiar face in classic Doctor Who, Christopher Benjamin appeared in multiple stories, most notably as Colonel Crichton in The Talons of Weng-Chiang (Tom Baker era). His warm, authoritative performances added depth to several serials.
Christopher H. Bidmead
Christopher H. Bidmead was a major creative force behind the show. As script editor for Season 18, he helped guide the series toward a more scientific direction. He also wrote the acclaimed stories The Keeper of Traken, Logopolis, and Castrovalva (which introduced Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor).
